City of Petrovaradin

Petrovaradin (Serbian Cyrillic: Петроварадин, Hungarian: Pétervárad, German: Peterwaradein), is part of the agglomeration of Novi Sad in Serbia (population 13,917 in 2002). Lying across the river Danube from the main part of Novi Sad, it is built around the Petrovaradin Fortress, known as the “Gibraltar of the Danube”.
